<title>Knowledge, Attitude and Practices towards Sextually Transmitted Infections among the Women of Reproductive Age in Chattogram, Bangladesh: A hospital based cross sectional study</title>
<link>https://repository.auw.edu.bd/handle/123456789/493</link>
<description>Knowledge, Attitude and Practices towards Sextually Transmitted Infections among the Women of Reproductive Age in Chattogram, Bangladesh: A hospital based cross sectional study
Paul, Priyanti
Background: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) conferes a huge health burden worldwide, especially&#13;
in developing countries like Bangladesh. Married women of reproductive age are mainly at risk of getting&#13;
infected with STIs in this country’s set up. Without proper documentation of knowledge, attitudes and&#13;
practices among this vulnerable population proper implementation of required interventions in this sector&#13;
will not be possible.&#13;
Objective: The study objective was to evaluate the level of knowledge and to assess the related factors&#13;
associated with knowledge, symptoms and practice behaviors regarding STIs.&#13;
Methods: A total of 139 ever married women of reproductive age 18 years and above were interviewed.&#13;
For selecting the potential convenient sampling method was used. A cross- sectional study was conducted&#13;
in a hospital in Chattogram, Bangladesh via semi structured questionnaire in face to face interviews.&#13;
Results: Among the participants most of them were found to be housewives (92.1%). The study found&#13;
that 55.4% have knowledge about STIs. We also found statistically significant associations between&#13;
different socio- demographic factors like age, education and occupation and level of knowledge. The&#13;
main source of knowledge was TV (46.8%). The proportion of self reported symptoms (at least one or&#13;
more) were high (80.6%). Participants are found with practice of different risk behaviors like history of&#13;
blood transfusion, less use of condom in sexual intercourse and poor treatment seeking behaviors. Poor&#13;
practice of using condoms was found to be associated with having more symptoms. Level of knowledge&#13;
and treatment seeking behavior are also found to be positively significantly associated (p&lt;0.005).&#13;
However, participants with symptoms did not really show adequate treatment seeking.&#13;
Conclusion: Overall, this present study found that the study participants had a high proportion of self&#13;
reported symptoms of STIs, inadequate awareness, and poor treatment seeking behavior.

<title>Early detection of ARDS in the Covid patients</title>
<link>https://repository.auw.edu.bd/handle/123456789/492</link>
<description>Early detection of ARDS in the Covid patients
Hoque, Mahfara
COVID-19 acute respiratory distress syndrome or ARDS affects both male and female and causes&#13;
severity which can led to death. This is different from pneumonia but causes a serious breathing&#13;
problem in the patients. The Covid-19 patients who fulfil Berlin criteria, are diagnosed with&#13;
ARDS. A higher death rate is linked to a lack of awareness of severe respiratory issues symptoms&#13;
and a failure to seek competent medical care early or late in the disease's progression. Therefore,&#13;
it is highly necessary to take early precautions at the initial stage such that it’s symptoms and effect&#13;
can be found at early stage for better diagnosis. Machine learning now days has a great influence&#13;
in the health care sector because of its high computational capability for early prediction of the&#13;
diseases with accurate data analysis. In our paper we have analyzed various machine learning&#13;
classifiers techniques to classify data of severe and moderate COVID-19 ARDS patients. The input&#13;
data is prepossessed and converted in to binary form. The comparison technique reveals that the&#13;
proposed Logistic Regression and Decision Tree classifier have resulted with a great accuracy of&#13;
88% and considered as the effective classifier techniques for severe and moderate prediction.

<title>Identification of Non-Shared Potential Biomarkers for the Treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in Dif erent Countries</title>
<link>https://repository.auw.edu.bd/handle/123456789/491</link>
<description>Identification of Non-Shared Potential Biomarkers for the Treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in Dif erent Countries
Bakya, Jannatul
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most common lung cancers which is&#13;
identified as the second leading cause of mortality globally. In this era of customized medicine, it&#13;
is increasing the importance of coming up with potential biomarkers to treat the NSCLC patients.&#13;
The purpose of this study is to identify potential biomarkers which are involved in non-small cell&#13;
lung cancer by using bioinformatics tools. In Particular, I identified three genesets GSE11969,&#13;
GSE8894 and GSE33532 from three countries Japan, South Korea and Germany based on two&#13;
cell types to generate the research. The identified genes are differentially expressed genes and&#13;
with the analyzing their activities and regulations are implemented by the bioinformatics tools.&#13;
As a result, I found 215 uncommon DE genes from three countries.The uncommon genes were&#13;
analyzed for functional annotation along with pathway analysis by using DAID tool to enrich&#13;
biological processes, cellular components and molecular function. The Protein-protein&#13;
interaction (PPI) network of the DEGs was analyzed to visualize the hub genes that showed the&#13;
gene CDK1 is having a strong association with other genes.

<title>Psychological effects of domestic violence and mental health policy for children</title>
<link>https://repository.auw.edu.bd/handle/123456789/489</link>
<description>Psychological effects of domestic violence and mental health policy for children
Abser, Samira
Domestic violence has been a prevalent issue all over the world. In a household where domestic violence is chronic, aside from the victim, the children from the violent household due to exposure to violence might influence their psychological well-being.  This paper examines how exposure to domestic violence can lead to problems in emotional regulation and cognitive development disorder as well as attachment styles in children. It will also focus on how trauma from domestic violence shapes their emotional and behavioral development, as well as how it impacts their adult relationships and relationships with their parents. Lastly, the research focuses on the mental health policy that is currently present in Bangladesh for children who have been exposed to domestic violence. The research has been conducted through a qualitative approach and secondary analysis was used to answer the research questions.&#13;
This research was done with the goal to find how much children’s mental health can be impacted due to exposure to domestic violence. To examine how trauma from the past due to domestic violence can influence their relationships with others when they are adults and their relationship with their parents. The mental health policy of Bangladesh explored to see how much it can help the children who have been exposed to domestic violence. The findings indicate that exposure to domestic violence influences their emotional regulation and cognitive development disorder and attachment styles in children which influences their interaction with others and their relationships with others when they are adults if left untreated. According to the findings of the research, Bangladesh needs an inclusive mental health policy that would help in making mental health services more accessible, destigmatize mental health issues which would lead to encouraging victims and their children to seek mental health services.
